The ASSE concluded its summer training with a friendly match against Paris FC, after about ten days of training in Aix-Les-Bains. This meeting, the fourth and penultimate of their preparation, was designed to assess the fitness of the players two weeks from the beginning of the season in Ligue 2. The team, led by Eirik Horneland, highlighted several key elements, including the Tardieu-Jaber duo in the middle of the field and a positive group dynamic despite an offensive efficiency to fine-tune. The game allowed to give playing time to a maximum of players and to test different tactical combinations for the coming season.
The match against the Paris FC was marked by a first loss in the pre-season, with a score of 3-0 in favour of the Parisians. Despite a promising start with an opportunity from the third minute, the ASSE suffered a series of goals, including a spectacular Kebbale free kick and a Marchetti slalom. Although the team attempted to react in the second period with tactical changes, it had difficulty creating a real danger. The introduction of players like Duffus, Nade and Milaidinovic brought a boost of energy, but the score did not change.
A notable aspect of this meeting was the presence of Joshua Duffus, a new player not yet officially announced, who played his first minutes with the ASSE in the second period. The appearance aroused the enthusiasm of supporters on social networks, demonstrating their expectation and interest in this recruit. Duffus showed availability, good projecting ability and an interesting game volume, suggesting a quality reinforcement for the team. The ASSE now hopes that the administrative steps for its qualification will be quickly concluded before the start of the season against Laval.
