The ASSE strengthened its summer strength with the arrival of Mahmoud Jaber and Lassana Traoré, after the extensions of Maxime Bernauer and Irvin Cardona. Mahmoud Jaber, the third summer recruit, comes from the Haifa Maccabi and is described as an experienced midfielder, able to dictate the pace of the game while making a strong defensive contribution. Eirik Horneland, a member of the Stéphanois technical staff, highlighted Jaber’s experience in both the Israeli and European championships, as well as his ability to perform with and without the possession of the ball. Since his signature, Jaber has joined the team and made a very good impression, notably because of his defensive strength, an aspect Horneland believes the ASSE was missing last season.
The arrival of Lassana Traoré is also much awaited by the club. The left side signed its first professional contract with ASSE until 2029, after having been in the home since early 2025. Horneland noted his progress since his first trainings in March or April, highlighting his high potential and technical qualities, including his good left foot. The ASSE coach expresses his hope that he can count on Traoré in the future and recognizes that he has a lot to offer.
The integration of Jaber and Traoré is a significant reinforcement for ASSE, but the question remains whether the coach will give them a significant time in Ligue 2. Horneland insists on Traoré’s strength and aggressiveness, as well as his ability to make a positive contribution to the team. These two new recruits are perceived as valuable assets for the future of the club, and their impact on the field will be carefully examined by the Stéphanois supporters.
