Young talent ASSE: departures and new football opportunities

Each season, football clubs communicate with young players from their training centres to announce whether or not they will continue for the coming season. This decision period spans several weeks, and this year is no exception. Several young talents trained at AS Saint-Étienne (ASSE) recently learned that their career would not continue within the club, including Mathys Sabaan, El Hadji Dieye, Antoine Gauthier, Israel Kinunga, Simon Cateland, Marwann N’Zuzi, Keenzo Kies, Maysson Meïté, Kais Zerga, Mathis Grillot, Quentin Prud’homme, Farès Ben Rahem, Hani Guerroudj, Brandon Nativoha, Léandre Bagelli and Mahé Royet. Although this news may be disappointing, some of these players have already found new opportunities to continue their sport development.

Faced with the need to increase their staff, clubs that do not have their own training centres regularly turn to young players from other institutions. AS Saint-Priest, a club based in the Lyon suburbs, recently took advantage of this situation to recruit two players released by ASSE. Hani Guerroudj, a multipurpose midfielder born in 2007, spent 12 seasons in ASSE youth teams without obtaining a professional contract. With a season in U19 Nationals, it should bring real added value to the AS Saint-Priest team.

At the same time, Mahé Royet, a pre-centre born in 2009, also joined the AS Saint-Priest. Mainly evolving with the ASSE U16 R1 this season, he also participated in the Montaigu Tournament. His arrival reinforces the club’s U17 Nationals team. These transfers reflect the dynamic development of young players and the ability of clubs to seize opportunities to build the future.
