Seizure of French football corruption rights TV Qatar involved

A major event shakes the world of French football with the referral of the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) by the association AC! Anti-corruption. This action, formalised on 4 July 2025, targets a significant number of leading figures in hexagonal football. At the heart of this investigation are Vincent Labrune, president of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of Paris Saint-Germain, but many other current and former leaders of Ligue 1 clubs are also involved. The complaint, the content of which has been made public, points to serious accusations such as organized gang fraud, aggravated money laundering, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of trust.

The complaint denounces a complex system of organized fraud, benefiting from private interests linked to Qatar. The association believes that the distribution of TV rights would have been manipulated in favour of channels such as BeIN Sports and Visit Qatar. Pitch International, which is mandated to commercialize these partnerships, is also targeted, due to alleged links with Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. There are also suspicions about the purchase of the headquarters of the LFP, which was found to be overvalued, as well as about the remuneration of Vincent Labrune, who was accused of concealing a salary increase. In addition, the procedure for the election of Labrune in 2020 and 2024 is called into question.

This case takes place in an already tense context concerning the governance of French football, as the publication of a book-survey by Romain Molina should approach the same issues. The PNF has not yet confirmed the initiation of a formal investigation, but the charges in the complaint are serious enough to attract strong media and political attention. The scope of this case could have a significant impact on the future of the PFA and on the confidence of supporters in their clubs and leaders.
