Interim Fofana at RWDM: Breaks within five minutes

The acting of Gueda Fofana at RWDM ends

Gueïda Fofana’s stay in Belgium was short. Appointed coach of the RWD Molenbeek last Wednesday to try to get the climb in the first division, the OL reserve coach has already ended his interim. Present on the bench on Sunday night for the return match against Lokeren-Temse, he was tasked with filling the two-goal gap after the first round. Within five minutes, Fofana could have been considered a hero if two defensive mistakes had not put a hasty end to the acting.

The RWDM led 3-0 at the 86th minute before Lokeren-Temse reduced the gap in three minutes, thanks to two defensive errors. Finally, RWD Molenbeek lost 3-2 and will still be in the Jupiler League’s antechamber next season.

Women’s OL eliminated in the semifinal of the Champions League

Lyon coach Joe Montemurro and defender Vanessa Gilles considered “unacceptable” the elimination of women’s OL in the semifinals of the Champions League, after a 4-1 home defeat against Arsenal on Sunday. On the way, however, the Lyonnais had won 2-1.

Montemurro took responsibility for this elimination and acknowledged that he was still “quite puzzled” after the meeting. He also criticized his choice to align Ada Hegerberg in place of Melchie Dumornay, who had been left in the closet since the beginning of the season.

OL in the race for the Champions League

OL is involved in the Champions League race and still has to take nine points to make sure they are there next season. The club will face Lens next Sunday, then travel to Monaco on May 10 before receiving Angers for the last day of the season.

OL will also celebrate its 75th anniversary at this meeting against Angers. A collector’s jersey will be presented for the occasion, with the original OL logo and a shorts reminiscent of the colour present on the coat.**
