Ten days ago, AS Saint-Étienne won the derby, but the Stéphanois club is still awaiting sanctions following an incident that led to the interruption of the game. Several players have already been punished for their behaviour during the celebrations that followed the meeting. Despite this victory and the festive atmosphere that prevailed, the AS Saint-Étienne remained under possible additional sanctions.
The club had already been put in the sight of the disciplinary commission after the match against the PSG on 29 March due to the massive use of fumigants. During the derby, fumigants were again lit, causing a slight delay at the start. Even more worrying, a projectile jet in the direction of an assistant arbitrator caused a break of several minutes just before half-time.
AS Saint-Étienne responded quickly to this situation by announcing that it had identified the suspect through video surveillance and by placing him in custody. However, with two games still to be played at Geoffroy-Guichard, the Stéphanois will have to rely more than ever on the support of their audience to avoid any further overflow.
The PSL Discipline Commission decided to initiate an investigation following the severity of the incidents and the risk of recidivism. The verdict will be delivered on Wednesday, May 7, at the session where the instructor’s report will be presented. The dossier concerns, in particular, the jetting of parts and fumigants lit by the Kops.
Finally, at the end of the derby, three AS Saint-Étienne players were punished for their behaviour during the celebrations: Aïmen Moueffek, Irvin Cardona and Florian Tardieu. They scored one game and two suspended suspension matches respectively.
