Umtiti Hommé and Regrets at OL Controverse Arbitration

As a new career approaches, 2018 World Champion Samuel Umtiti, former OL player, will be honoured in the team’s next game against Angers. This symbolic kick-off marks a last return to the sources for the footballer, who started his career in Lyon before joining Barcelona. The event, scheduled this Friday evening at the Groupama Stadium, will be a potentially emotional moment for the 31-year-old player, who is about to devote himself to a professional conversion. The club stressed the importance of this evening, which will allow fans to pay tribute to one of theirs before his departure.

At the same time, Jordan Veretout, currently in Qatar, looks back on his visit to Olympique Lyonnais with a sense of regret. The player evokes a lack of support and tactical positioning that did not allow him to flourish fully during his season with the Gones. Despite 38 games played, he said he was not put in the best conditions to express his potential, and that he made the decision to leave to find a club where he could contribute more. He thus expresses his regret that he was unable to give the best of himself.

Following the defeat against Rennes and a controversial arbitration, OL sought explanations from the arbitration management. A meeting between Michael Gerlinger, executive director of the club, and DTA is planned for the near future. The club expressed its dissatisfaction with the decision not to sanction Anthony Rouault for a fault on Khalis Merah, which allowed Rennes to equalize. OL wishes to obtain clarification on this case and to discuss with DTA and FFF, in the hope of improving the quality of arbitration in Ligue 1.
