The pillars of OL distinguished at the UNFP Awards
Rayan Cherki and Lucas Perri are among the nominees for the prestigious UNFP Men’s Football Awards. The two players of Olympique Lyonnais (OL) will be present in Paris on May 11 for this annual ceremony.
With 10 assists and 8 goals in 27 championship games, Rayan Cherki is competing in the “Best Player of the Season” category. The offensive environment formed at OL seduces by its impressive technique and dribbles.
OL’s Brazilian doorman, Lucas Perri, is also named in the “Best Guardian of the Season” category. Arrived in the 2023/2024 season, he made 9 clean sheets and exceptional stops. Its regularity and its impact on OL play are no longer to be proved.
While OL has been fighting for a qualifying first place in the Champions League for four seasons, these two players could be rewarded in advance for their individual performances at the UNFP Awards ceremony.
Rayan Cherki is not the only OL player to shine this season. The young offensive milieu managed to pull its pin from the game despites the competition of Corentin Tolisso. With nine assists and eight goals, he is named in the “best player” category for the UNFP Awards.
The annual meeting of French football will also see the presence of Lucas Perri, named in the category “best goaltender”. The Brazilian will face experienced guards such as Donnarumma (PSG), Chevalier (Lille), Rulli (OM) and Petrovic (Strasbourg). While Perri still presents some imperfections, notably on the aerial exits and the game at foot, he was able to forge Anthony Lopes and impose himself as OL’s last bulwark.
As OL play their last three games to win this long-awaited qualifying in the Champions League, the team hopes that Perri will continue to perform against Lens, Monaco and Angers. The UNFP Awards could thus crown the individual efforts and performance of these two pillars of OL.
