Renamation of the OL stadium and preparation for the women's season

The Olympique Lyonnais (OL) club is about to return to its roots with the renaming of its stadium in Décines. According to information relayed by Olympique-et-Lyonnais, the insurance group, the current sponsor, decided not to renew the Naming contract, which expires on 31 July. Although the agreement is not yet formalized, the final negotiations are in an advanced phase and a new contract is expected in the coming days. This new agreement is expected to generate an annual receipt of €6.9 million for OL, a significant financial asset for the club.

In parallel, OL’s women’s team is actively preparing for the new season. About ten players, nicknamed “Fenottes”, will resume training on July 21. Among them are known players such as Christiane Endler, Wendié Renard and Tabitha Chawinga, as well as young talents including Lily Yohannes and Lindsey Hepset. The club also announced the return of several players from loans and other experiences, including Wassala Sangaré, Maeline Mendy, Liana Joseph and Julie Swierot. These returns offer an opportunity to strengthen the workforce and benefit from their experience in the First League.

These four players experienced notable passages during their loan. Mendy and Joseph were important for Strausbourg Racing, Sangaré quickly won Le Havre, and Swierot played a key role in Reims, competing in 20 games, including ten as a game winner. They also represented the France U19 team at the European Championship in June, where Mendy was voted the tournament’s best player. After a summer break, these players will join OL under the leadership of the new coach, Jonatan Giraldez, to prepare for the upcoming season, hoping to see their contribution in friendly matches and official competitions.
