Last Saturday in London, Christiane Endler was not exempt from any criticism despitable the victory of her team Lyon. Between two missed saves and a questionable exit that led to Arsenal’s equalizing penalty, the Chile goalkeeper had a mixed event. She will look to redeem herself during Sunday’s return match against the London training at 6 PM and prove that she still tanks among the world’s best goalkeepers.
It is undeniable that Endler is one of the top goalkeepers in France. With only five goals conceded, Lyon has the best defence in the First League, thanks in part to her efforts. However, her performance will ultimatey be judged during the playoffs, which are crucial for determining the championship title.
In this fight for the title, Endler may face Mary Earps or Chiamaka Nnadozie. The goalkeepers of PSG and Paris FC respectively will meet in the semi-finals of the playoffs. If everything goes according to plan, Lyon should face one of these two teams in the final.
Before that, however, the three goalkeepers will compete on another field: that of the trophy for the best goalkeeper of the First League. The ceremony organized by the LFFP will take place on April 28th with Endler, Earps and Nnadozie as finalists.
