Lucas Stassin: a double in the Lyon derby

This Sunday evening, Lucas Stassin set fire to the Chaudron by placing a double against the Lyon enemies, thus offering a precious victory to the AS Saint-Étienne in a high-emotion derby. The young Belgian pre-centre proved to be the hero of the day, quickly marking for the second time of the season in Ligue 1.

April 20 is a date marked with a white stone in the history of ASSE. In 2013, Brandao allowed the Greens to win the League Cup against Rennes. More recently, Irvin Cardona hit Bordeaux in a crazy match in 2024. This year, it’s Lucas Stassin’s turn to put his name in the annals of the Forezian club.

Since the arrival of Eirik Horneland on the Stéphanois bench, Lucas Stassin has scored 11 of his 12 goals this season, demonstrating formidable efficiency. The most expensive player in the club’s history scored fast in the last matches against Le Havre, Montpellier and Paris.

In front of the Lyons, the Greens again made an excellent start, suffocating the gones throughout the first period. This good start was rewarded with an early goal by Lucas Stassin, who has thus been a 5 goals player before the 20th minute in the last 6 games.

Thanks to this new Belgian hero, AS Saint-Étienne managed this meeting to win 2-1 against the Lyons, thus giving its fans a precious victory.
