The LOSC suffered a significant destabilization during the summer mercato with the loss of several key players, including Lucas Chevaelier, Bafodé Diakité, Jonathan David and others. This haemorrhage forced the team to rebuild a significant portion of its starting staff. Although the arrival of an attacker is no longer a priority, thanks to the acquisition of Olivier Giroud, the defensive sector is a source of serious concern for coach Bruno Genesio. Faced with this situation, President Olivier Létang took the initiative to speed up the steps to provide a reassuring reinforcement to the team.
According to Footmercato, the LOSC is showing interest in Diego Carlos, a Brazilian central defender in Fenerbahçe. However, the Lille club would have another priority target: Benjamin Pavard. This French world champion, under contract with Inter Milan until 2028, is in the LOSC’s viewfinder to compensate for the departure of Diakité. The uncertain situation of Pavard at Inter, which does not deviate from a sale in case of an offer between 20 and 25 million euros, represents a financial challenge for President Létang, accustomed to less important expenses for mature players.
The acquisition of Pavard is expected to be complex, with continued interest from Galatasaray, who has already engaged in discussions with the player and is considering a purchase offer or loan option. The Saudi club of NEOM is also interested. On the LOSC side, although the Pavard track is seen as a unique opportunity, it faces fierce competition. At the same time, Diego Carlos seems very motivated to join the LOSC, despite a difficult season marked by injuries.
