ASSE-Summer preparation-Strengthening of the team for 2025-2026

Asse continues its summer preparation for the 2025-2026 season, with a clear goal: to strengthen its team after a difficult season. Following a 3-1 win over the Carouge Star, the Greens faced Troyes in their second friendly match. This match, played in Geoffroy-Guichard, allowed coach Eirik Horneland to assess the fitness of his players and test new combinations. The preparation began with an internship at Chambon-sur-Lignon, followed by the return to the grounds of the Robert-Herbin Sports Centre, marking the integration of new recruits like Chico Lamba.

After the game against Troyes, Eirik Horneland highlighted the physical progress of the players, while noting a rhythm of forward action sometimes slow in the first period. However, he praised the defensive strength of the team, which did not concede any goals at this meeting, a crucial aspect after having conceded many goals last season. The coach also highlighted the importance of giving play time to all players, including those from the Reserves group, who are motivated and constantly progressing. The end of the game was particularly satisfactory, with a game takeover and a well-built game.

Coach Horneland is satisfied with the physical fitness of the players, who have returned from their holidays in full possession of their means and show constant motivation. In particular, he highlighted Ben Old’s beneficial playing time, which missed much of the previous season. The preparation will continue with a second internship in Aix-les-Baรฏns, including two friendly games against the Servette and Paris FC. The choice to play the game against Troyes at Geoffroy-Guichard was seen as positive, allowing players, especially those who had never played there, to become familiar with the field and the atmosphere, even in the absence of a public.
