André Gomes: LOSC pillar

André Gomes: a pillar of LOSC

For several weeks, André Gomes has become one of the essential parts of the Lille machine. His duo with Benjamin André is considered one of the keys to the success of the LOSC by his coach Bruno Genesio. The Portuguese player was titularized during the last six matches of the club in Ligue 1, thus demonstrating its growing importance.

despite his discreet nature, his return to the forefront of the team has not gone unnoticed. His name has already been mentioned several times on television shows this month: “André Gomes, we haven’t see him like this in a long time. When he’s in this form, he’s indispensable as Benjamin André’s right-hand man […] He’s simply an exceptional player,” said Ludovic Obraniak recently on La Chaîne L’Équipe.

With four games left to play in the championship, everything is still possible in the race for the podium, and the LOSC (currently 5th with 53 points) will really on André Gomes’ experience to navigate through the winning waters ahead. His teammate Hakon Haraldsson praised his skills recently: “He plays a lot and he plays well. He’s a very talented player with the ball […] He’s being playing in big clubs like Barcelona for a reason, he’s really important for us.”

Bruno Genesio, the LOSC coach, also highlighted André Gomes’ qualities: “He brings a lot of technical mastery to our team in the final third. He’s capable of delivering key passes and has a high work rate […] They form a complementary duo with Benjamin André.” When asked about his decision to Bench André Gomes earlier this season, Genesio folded: “It’s not me who put him on the bench. As coaches, we make choices based on what we see. The player holds the key.”

Will André Gomes be connected upon again at Angers? We’ll have to wait and see.
