OL regains its victory over Rennes and resumes its race in the Champions League
The victory of Olympique Lyonnais (OL) against Stade Rennais (4-1) gave a valuable boost to this very tight end of the season in the race at the Champions League. Several Lyon players have delivered remarkable performances, including Corentin Tolisso, who was released on stretcher in the previous match against Saint-Étienne due to an injury.
It is not surprising, therefore, that the midfielder appears in the team’s start XI. Author of the second goal of the match, the French international was also the penultimate smuggler on the third goal. With a score of 8, Corentin Tolisso became the second best field player in the cumulative ranking, just behind Ousmane Dembélé. For the third time this season, he is standing alongside the best, after a miraculous and unexpected return.
OL could see Lucas Paquet leaving West Ham, allowing the club to get a small amount of money. Olympique Lyonnais wishes to obtain as much money as possible before it arrives in front of the DNCG in June. Between the sale of players, the various money entry promises from John Textor and a potential qualification in the Champions League, OL does not close any doors. However, a source of income appears to be falling. According to The Express, Lucas Paqueta should leave England while he is still waiting for his trial for rigged matches. In case of departure of Brazilian, Lyon could receive 10% of a possible surplus value to which Milan AC must take 15%. Unfortunately, his club would seek to sell it around 25 million euros, thus reducing significantly the potential sum obtained by the Lyonnais, which amounted to several million euros a few seasons ago.
At three days at the end of the championship, six teams are still eligible for the last 3 qualifying places for the Champions League. If there was no suspense for the title of French champion this season 2024-2025, there is much more for the race to Europe and the Champions League. Just three days from the end of the championship, six teams are standing in just four points. Everything remains possible and the consequences, particularly financial ones, could be enormous from one place to another.
After the enchanted break in the First League in Nantes (0-2), many players found the daily bread of the OL reserve and the third division. Saturday, Sarah Rougeron, Charline Coutel, Romane Rafalski or Louna Belhout were all in Montpellier, after playing a first division match three days earlier. The outcome was very different for the young Fenottes with a setback in Hérault land at the end of the suspense. As the game was moving quietly towards a draw, Elisa Rambaud came to crucify Yasmine Ammar in the 90th minute. With nothing left to play at the end of the season, OL’s reserve is still hard. After a long time standing in Grenoble in the race for champion title
