Olympique Lyonnais (OL) announced the sale of the player Adryelson to Al Wasl, an Emirati club, for a transaction of 2.2 million euros, supplemented by 900,000 euros of bonuses. OL maintains a 50% stake in the future sale of the 27-year-old Brazilian defender, who arrived from Botafogo in January 2024 for €3.58 million. After only four games played with OL and two inconclusive loans, Adryelson is considered a major disappointment of the TextoR era. His transfer to the United Arab Emirates represents a new opportunity to revive his career.
The previous season, OL won their 18th French champion title by beating Paris Saint-Germain in the final (3-0). However, the team experienced premature eliminations in the Coupe de France and the Champions League, including a defeat in the semifinal against Arsenal. These results led the Lyon management to make the decision to thank coach Joe Montemurro, replaced by the world champion twice with Barcelona, Jonatan Giraldez. Giraldez’s main objective is to restore the club’s European reputation, under the leadership of current president Michele Kang.
At his first press conference, Jonatan Giraldez stressed the importance of Michele Kang’s work, stressing his commitment to investing in women’s football and to creating the conditions necessary for the players’ progress. He also highlighted the crucial role of the staff in the development of athletes, stressing that investment in staff is a key factor in growth. Since his arrival, Michele Kang has been actively involved in improving the daily conditions of the players and strengthening the entire organization.
