Transfer from Adryelson OL realizes a financial gain

Olympique Lyonnais (OL) officially transferred its Brazilian defender, Adryelson, to Al Wasl’s Emirati club on Wednesday. This operation, estimated at 2.2 million euros, including 0.9 million euros of bonuses, marks the departure of a player who was not included in the plans of successive coaches, Pierre Sage and Paulo Fonseca. Arriving at OL in January 2024, Adryelson had only half a season with the Lyon training, despite successful lending experiences in Botafogo and Anderlecht which enabled him to gain in playing time.

Adryelson’s course before his arrival in Lyon includes a visit to Botafogo on loan during the first half of the previous season, followed by an experience in Belgium with Anderlecht this winter. These periods were crucial for its development and provided it with valuable experience, but did not suffice to convince Paulo Fonseca to integrate it into the team. As a result, the Lyon club opted for its departure, a decision officially confirmed this Wednesday.

The transfer from Adryelson represents a significant source of revenue for OL, with €2.2 million in revenue, of which €0.9 million is in bonus form. It is also important to note that the club retains 50% of the rights to a possible future resale of the player. This departure is part of a workforce management policy aimed at optimizing payroll and focusing efforts on key players for the coming season.
