The Olympique de Marseille is actively pursuing its summer mercato with an ambitious offensive strategy. The club made a one-year offer to Pierre-Emérick Aubameyang, currently a free agent after his departure from Al-Qadisia in Saudi Arabia. The 36-year-old Gabonese striker demonstrated excellent physical fitness and ability to score, especially during a strong Saudi Pro League season. His return to OM would have a particular dimension, recalling his successful 2023/2024 season in Olympian colours. The arrival of Aubameyang would be seen as an experienced reinforcement, able to frame young players and bring real added value in high-level competitions.
At the same time, OM is intensifying its efforts to recruit Igor Paixão, considered a priority to strengthen the left corridor of the attack. Discussions with Feyenoord, a Dutch club, are continuing, although the Dutch club hopes to get a higher price, especially in the face of a possible English interest. Peaceão’s interest in OM is motivated by the Marseille project, the presence of Roberto De Zerbi and the prospect of competing in the Champions League. OM has already made an offer of more than 20 million euros, but remains patient and avoids overvaluation, despite the match of the player’s profile with the club’s sporting expectations.
Finally, the future of Ismaël Bennacer at OM is uncertain. The Algerian midfielder, who arrived on loan with option of purchase, did not fully convince because of a difficult recovery after a long injury. OM has not lifted the purchase option and is seeking to renegotiate the terms of the transfer or to obtain a new loan. Real Betis Seville, qualified for the Europa League, is considering a loan with an option of 10 million euros, seeing Bennacer as a technical and experienced community. However, his current salary represents a major obstacle for both clubs. His departure could be facilitated by the fact that he did not find a regular place on the team and that he might be interested in a stronger sports project.
