Greenwood-Paixão: OM aims excellence in attack

Mason Greenwood, who arrived at the Olympique de Marseille last summer, is returning to his best level in Ligue 1, attracting special attention because of his future in international selection. Despite obtaining a Jamaican passport, the 23-year-old still hesitates to represent Jamaica, his country of origin, or try a return with the England team. The English breeder, Thomas Tuchel, admitted to following the situation but did not envisage a short-term summons, although he did not exclude anything. Greenwood’s performance with OM could however influence his decision, potentially paving the way for a place in the English attack if the season is successful.

The Olympique de Marseille is about to find the Brazilian left winger Igor Paixão, recruited this summer for a record amount of 30 million euros. After an injury that has taken him away from the field since the start of the season, the 22-year-old is expected to resume collective training in mid-September. His return is crucial for the offensive sector in Marseille, as he is a major asset with 18 goals and 19 assists recorded in the Netherlands the previous season. His adaptation to the physical rigor of Ligue 1 will be a challenge, but his return is eagerly awaited by the supporters.

The recruitment of Paixão, OM’s largest summer transfer and the second most important in the club’s history, demonstrates the team’s willingness to reinforce its attack and aim higher this season. His presence could also ease pressure on other attackers, such as Mason Greenwood, who is often the target of the opposing defense. OM hopes that Peaceão will quickly return to its level of performance to contribute to the club’s high ambitions, and that its return will boost the Marseille attack.
