Lucas Perrin commits to Gij贸n Sporting for three seasons

Lucas Perrin, a central defender trained at Olympique de Marseille, continues his professional career abroad. At the age of 26, he recently signed a contract with the Sporting Gij贸n, a second Spanish division. This new stage represents a continuation of his journey after his departure from OM in 2021. Perrin first joined the Racing Club in Strasbourg, where he spent three full seasons (2021-2024), before trying an experience in Germany with the Hamburger SV in Bundesliga 2 in the summer of 2024.

His visit to Germany was short, however, because he was loaned to the Cercle Bruges in Belgium in January 2025, without finding the stability hoped for. After several weeks of looking for a long-term project, Perrin opted for the Sporting Gij贸n, an Asturian club that currently ranks 11th in LaLiga Hypermotion (D2 Spanish). The signature, formalized Monday, is that of a player free from any contract, and marks a new adventure for the Marseille footballer.

This arrival in Spain is a new experience abroad for Perrin, who has already evolved in Ligue 1, Bundesliga 2 and Belgian championships. After having played 17 games with OM’s first team between 2019 and 2021, his departure for Strasbourg was intended to give him more time to play. This new stage confirms his desire to progress and remain a player to follow for the observers of the Marseille training centre, while the Sporting Gij贸n aims to fight for the first roles in the championship this season.
