After a convincing 4-0 victory in Germany against Hamburg SV, Olympique Lyonnais immediately flew to Innsbruck, Austria, to start his summer preparation course. The main objective of this intense work week, orchestrated by Paulo Fonseca, is to strengthen team cohesion and prepare for future challenges. The program is loaded, with two daily workouts (Monday, Thursday, Friday) and a friendly match against Majorelle scheduled for Wednesday 30 July at 5:30 p.m. The team is also preparing to face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Saturday 2 August.
However, the victory against Hamburg had a cost. Attacker Enzo Molebe felt an discomfort at the bottom of the back at the end of the game and was forced to leave the field earlier than expected. Coach Paulo Fonseca expressed concerns about this injury, highlighting the physical fragility of the young player who had physical problems last season. This situation could impact its availability for the next games and weaken the Lyon attack, especially with Malick Fofana’s imminent departure. Additional examinations are planned to assess the extent of the injury.
At the same time as the sports preparation, Olympique Lyonnais positioned itself as the French club with the largest sales figure during this summer mercato, with 73 million euros generated. Several key players left the club, including Lucas Perri, Rayan Cherki and Said Benrahmma, in order to revive the team’s finances. The young talents of the U19 also participated in friendly matches, notably against the Grenoble reserve, to prepare themselves to face the Ligue 1 teams and to participate in the CariSportle tournament. The internship in Austria is therefore a crucial stage for OL, both in sport and in financial terms.
