Lyon aims Montiel and strengthens his pool of coaches

Olympique Lyonnais seems to be actively looking for reinforcements, with particular interest for Elias Montiel, midfielder of the CF Pachuca. This potential recruit is part of a difficult mercato context for OL, whose financial future remains uncertain due to budgetary constraints imposed by the DNCG. Despite these limitations, the Lyon club is interested in the 19-year-old Mexican player who shone at the last World Cup of clubs. However, Montiel’s arrival could be jeopardized by the price charged by CF Pachuca, set at โ‚ฌ8.5 million, which could hinder the “Gones”’ ambitions in the face of competition from Ajax Amsterdam.

In parallel with these recruitment movements, there is a growing trend towards the conversion of former players from Olympique Lyonnais to coaches. Bruno Genesio, currently in Lille, and Jรฉrรฉmy Clรฉment, recently appointed head of FC Allobroges-Asafia in Regional 2, are notable examples. Another former OL player, Jean-Christophe Devaux, has been formalized as the new head coach of FC Foroon, a club based in Haute-Savoie. This appointment marks an important step for the club, succeeding a duo of coaches who led the training for ten years.

The arrival of Jean-Christophe Devaux at FC Foroon represents a new challenge for the central defender who carried the colours of Olympique Lyonnais 75 times between 1995 and 2000. After a career as a player, he turned to coaching, passing through several clubs before joining Foroon. The club, which finished second in Regional 2 last season, aims to achieve excellence in the 2025-2026 season. Devaux, with his experience and ambition, will have the task of prolonging the positive dynamics of the club and making it progress towards new heights.
