Pope Diong loan Monpellier Dunkirk interested clubs

The young Senegalese middle ground Pope Diong (19 years old) arouses the interest of two Ligue 2 clubs for a possible loan during the current season. Several players currently playing in Racing are not expected to get enough play time, which opens the way for start-ups. These players include Maervin Senaya (to Auxerre), Alaa Bellaarouch (to Braga), Robin Risser (to Lens), Jessy Demiinguet (to Metz) and Jérémy Sebaas (to Bastia). Pape Diong should also leave the club, but in the form of a loan, with Montpellier and Dunkirk as potential destinations.

According to recent press reports, including Ici la Pallade and L’Équipe, Pape Diong is on the list of Montpellier’s recruitment tracks, recently relegated to Ligue 2. Dunkirk also indicated his interest in the young axial environment. The release of Diong by Strasbourg is conditional on the inclusion of a commitment clause, guaranteeing a minimum number of games played for the player.

Pape Daouda Diong was recruited by Racing in the summer of 2024 for 2.2 million euros, after joining the Darou Salam Academy in Dakar. Considered a great hope, he showed promising signs during his appearances with Racing (11 games played, including 9 in Ligue 1). However, he was unable to win regularly under coach Liam Rosenior, which explains the growing interest of Ligue 2 clubs.
