OM mercato uncertain Ouahni Ordóñez financial stakes

The mercato of Olympique de Marseille is currently animated by two main tracks concerning Azzdine Ouahni and Joël Ordóñez. For Ouahni, after a convincing season on loan at Panathinaikós where he was elected best player by fans, the Moroccan community is waiting for a new start. It is currently relegated to the OM “loft” and is not included in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans. The Panathinaikós, reinforced by the upcoming sale of Geórgios Vagiannídis, is considering an offensive return to the Ouahni case. Despite their willingness to keep it, the Greek leaders had not been able to lift the purchase option at the end of last season. OM, for its part, awaits an offer that is more in line with its expectations, set at EUR 12 million, after refusing a proposal from Spartak Moscow and finding Girona’s offer insufficient.

With regard to Joël Ordóñez, negotiations with Club Bruges were further slowed down. The Belgian leaders found the last OM proposal too vague and lacking financial guarantees, which prompted them to consider a status quo and retain the young defender in Belgium. The OM, which appeared to have reached an agreement on the transfer price (32 million euros), is struggling with the payment arrangements and the resale clause requested by Bruges (25 %). This block raises questions about the outcome of the case, as the end of the mercato approach. OM will probably have to review its proposal to convince Bruges to give up the player, considered a sports priority.

In summary, the future of Azzdine Ouahni remains uncertain at OM, while the Panathinaikós continues to push for his return to Athens. Their last offer, including an initial amount of EUR 5 million, additional sums next season and a participation on a possible surplus value, was not considered satisfactory by OM, which hopes to recover about EUR 12 million. For its part, the Joël Ordóñez file is in difficulty, as discussions with Bruges are blocked by disagreements on the terms of the transfer. OM will therefore have to act quickly to relaunch these two tracks before the end of the mercato.
