OL Financial Inspectorate and Aulas support in Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais is preparing for a rigorous financial inspection by the National Management Control Directorate (DNCG) of the Fédé, with a file of EUR 200 million over two seasons. This situation is complicated by allegations of suspicious financial ties between OL and the Brazilian club of Botafogo, belonging to Eagle Football Holdings. Suspected writing games would have allowed Botafogo to finance its sporting success by transferring funds to OL, especially for the economic rights of some players. The lack of publication of Botafogo’s accounts makes it difficult to verify these transactions, but overlaps suggest that several Botafogo players may have been employed and paid by OL, which could constitute fraud.

At the same time, Jean-Michel Aulas, emblematic figure of Lyon football, reappears on the sports scene, after a certain withdrawal. Despite his age and the possibility of a well-deserved retirement, he seems determined to continue supporting Lyon sport. He is active in the FFF and the FFPA and could consider a political career, which could have implications for his future investments. Aulas reiterated her desire to help OL and expressed her support for Michele Kang, the new president of the club. He also stressed the importance of supporting all professional sports clubs in Lyon, including ASVEL, which face financial difficulties.

ASVEL, a basketball club, is also facing economic problems and could benefit from an investment by Holnest, the main shareholder of the Arena de Décines. Although Tony Parker remains the investment leader, Holnest could provide significant financial support to the club. Aulas, who has already collaborated with Tony Parker in the past, is open to a new experience of this type, with the aim of ensuring the sustainability of Lyon sports clubs and keeping them at a high level of competition. He stressed the need to find solutions so that Lyon sport could continue to thrive.
