Fomba at ASSE: a decisive pre-season to assert itself

Pre-season is a crucial time for players seeking to assert themselves within their club. For Lamine Fomba at ASSE, this phase could be decisive after two and a half years of trying to win. Recruited in 2023, the midfielder had quickly distinguished himself as a valuable player, coinciding with the club’s recovery and its retention in Ligue 2. However, the arrival of new players under the successive trainings of Laurent Batlles and Olivier Dall’Olio complicated his situation, reducing his playing time. Despite a regular presence in the group, he helped promote ASSE in Ligue 1 during the dam against Metz, obtaining a contract extension until 2026.

ASSE, under the leadership of Kilmer Sports Ventures, has undertaken a major overhaul of its organization to ensure a sustainable return to Ligue 1. This strategy focuses on targeted recruitment, reinforcement of staff and modernization of the Scouting Unit. The aim is to avoid short-term decisions and to build a balanced workforce capable of meeting the demands of Ligue 2 while preparing for the future. The Scouting Cell was restructured with the arrival of Alexandre Lousberg as coordinator, aimed at improving data collection and analysis for more informed recruitment choices.

In parallel with these changes, the technical staff has also been considerably strengthened, with over 200 interviews conducted to form a team of specialists around Eirik Horneland. Emphasis is placed on collaboration and integration of different areas such as performance, individual development, nutrition and sports psychology. The ambition is to provide players with a structured environment to promote their progress and reach their full potential, allowing ASSE to regain its place among the elite of French football.
