The CIES Football Observatory recently published a study on the average duration of coaching in clubs around the world. The French Ligue 1 is not an exception in terms of stability. According to the latest weekly letter published by the Observatory, two thirds of coaches have been in the main leagues of the world for less than a year. This figure is even 90% in Ecuador and Costa Rica. In Italy, the Serie A has the lowest stability rate with only two coaches with more than a year of seniority, including Simone Inzaghi at the head of Inter Milan since June 2021. The French Ligue 1 is only slightly more stable with eleven out of eighteen coaches in the position for less than a year, for an average of 389 days. Bruno Genesio, appointed last June to succeed Paulo Fonseca, is the most recent example of this instability at LOSC, where only Paulo Fonseca has managed to stay more than a year on the bench in recent years.
