OM - Brest: Capital Match for Europe under Stéphanie Frappart's Arbitration

This Sunday evening, starting at 8:45 pm, Olympique de Marseille (OM) receives the Stade Brestais in a key match for the race in Europe on the 31st day of Ligue 1. Stéphanie Frappart was appointed referee for this meeting, a well-known figure of the Marseille fans after having already led two OM games this season. The first time, on August 31, 2024, she had arbitrated OM’s 3-1 win over Toulouse, a match marked by four yellow cards and a red card for the Toulousans, as well as two warnings for the Olympians. She was also present at the Vélodrome for the match OM - Nantes (2-0) on March 2, a quieter encounter with only a yellow card on the Marseille side.

The dynamics of Brest in Ligue 1 were slowed this weekend because of the suspensions of goaltender Marco Bizot and defender Abdoulaye Ndiaye for the match against OM next Sunday. In addition, the attacker Ludovic Ajorque is uncertain about the trip to Marseille after an injury on the last day. Brest will therefore have to do without two defensive pillars and perhaps its front centre in a high intensity match at the Vélodrome where OM is no longer entitled to error.

On the Marseille side, this series of absences from the Brestois could represent an opportunity to seize, even if Roberto De Zerbi’s players enter the field under pressure but with their destiny in hand.
