The hope of going up to the top division fades for OL’s men’s reserve team. Under the leadership of Pierre Chavrondier, who could be replaced by Gueïda Fofana, the team suffered a defeat against Limonest (2-0) last weekend, putting an end to his hopes for promotion. This defeat occurred in the absence of Pierre-Antoine Dorival, a key midfielder of the team. Dorival will also miss the Premier League International Cup final on May 7. The 19-year-old Senegalese, who arrived at OL in October 2024, joined the Lions of Teranga to participate in the U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. The competition started on Sunday, April 27 and will end on May 18.
Dorival is not the only Rhodanian player to have been called in the national selection. The 17-year-old Wassim El Abrougui will represent Tunisia’s colours at the tournament starting this Thursday against Nigeria (17 hours). Unfortunately for OL U19 coach Samy Sacide, he will have to do without his right side of 18 for the last two games of the season against Mulhouse and Clermont. After the game against Nigeria, the Tunisians will face Kenya on Sunday, May 4 in Cairo (17 hours) before closing their game against Morocco on May 7 (17 hours).
On the other hand, Pierre-Antoine Dorival should have a more affordable calendar with her Senegalese selection. On the programme for the players of Serigne Saliou Dia: the Central African Republic (02/05, 17 hours), Ghana (05/05, 20 hours) and finally the Democratic Republic of the Congo (08/05, 17 hours).
