"Marseille: Change of schedule for greening in Italy before decisive matches"

The Olympique de Marseille is changing its four-day preparation program at the end of the championship. Under the direction of Roberto De Zerbi, the Phocéan club leaves its Robert Louis-Dreyfus training centre for an extended green setting in Italy. This decision was taken in agreement with the club’s management in order to optimize the concentration and cohesion of the group before the decisive matches of this end of season.

The stay will take place in the region of Rome, where Roberto De Zerbi retains strong ties. Players will stay in Italy for at least two weeks with return trips in France organized for official meetings. A point will be made after the trip to Lille to decide on the continuation.

This greening is thought of as a time of collective refocusing. At a press conference, Roberto De Zerbi clarified his intentions: “With the club, we decided to do everything possible to achieve our goal. There’s no punishment, it’s just a way to get together. At four games at the end, the only thing we can really improve is the state of mind.”

According to L’Equipe, this green setting is part of a logic of breaking with the usual routine. After two days of rest after the wide victory against Montpellier (5-1) on Saturday, the players found Commanderie this Tuesday morning for a classic session. But instead of returning home, they fly in the afternoon to Rome, where they will spend the week in a hotel located north of the Italian capital.

This initiative aims to provide players with a more serene environment, far from the daily pressure of Commandery, which is sometimes considered to be heavy. By focusing on cohesion and solidarity, Roberto De Zerbi hopes to unite his group around the European objective.
