The Olympique de Marseille won a convincing victory last night at the Vélodrome Stadium against Brest, after spending a week of training in Italy on the side of Rome. RMC Sport consultant Florian Gautreau distinguishes between player communication and the strategic management set up by coaches. On Sunday evening’s “After Foot” show on RMC Sport, Florian Gautreau gave his analysis of the recent speeches surrounding the Olympique de Marseille, a few hours after their 4-1 victory over Brest.
Asked about the statements of the players boasting “love of the jersey”, the journalist considers them to be mainly communication: “The players who talk about the love of the jersey, yes indeed it is com’. »
However, Gautreau distinguished the more sincere speech of Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi, whose attachment to the club and to the Phocéan audience was more credible: “From Zerbi says I love OM and this audience, he believes in it and he wants to make that happen. »
According to him, it was precisely this sincerity and this demand that had led to criticism from the Italian technician: “We criticized him because he put too much nervousness in all this. »
For Florian Gautreau, the methods used by the coaches are real managerial innovations: “The com’ of the players is sometimes ridiculous, because when you don’t run on the field when you only have one game a week… On the other hand, that coaches need tricks to maintain pressure and play on the mind of their group, that’s not com’, it’s management. »
The consultant concludes by highlighting the evolution of practices: “Coachers need to put more things in place than before to wake everyone up. »
