LOSC Expects Excellence in Champions League

The LOSC, or Lille Olympic Sporting Club, had a history rich in success, especially in the 1940s-1950s with two French champion titles and five French Cups. After a period of relative discretion, the club has regained its place among the elite of Ligue 1 since the early 2000s, with several podiums, two championships in 2011 and 2021, and a Coupe de France in 2011. The 2025-26 season starts with the ambition to confirm this position and shine in the Champions League, after reaching the eighth in the final the previous year. This ambition is built on a mix of young talents and experience, with the arrival of players like Olivier Giroud, former player of Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan, as well as the return of Romain Perraud.

The summer of 2024 was marked by a number of important departures, including goaltender Chevalier, central defender Diakité and midfielder J. David, who joined prestigious clubs such as Paris SG and Juventus Turin. These starts were offset by the arrival of key players such as midfielder Özer, left side Perraud and young defender Ngoy. The team also strengthened in attack with the arrival of Portuguese Correiia and the return of Giroud, a transfer that arouses a lot of enthusiasm. The pre-season preparation was intensive, with several friendly matches against teams from different European championships, allowing LOSC to test its new strategies and prepare for the new season.

The LOSC can count on an experienced coach, Bruno Genesio, known for his collective and offensive game based on the possession of the ball. Genesio, who has already been successful in Lyon and Rennes, has already a successful first season in Lille. The opening match of the 2024-2025 season between Brest and Lille will be arbitrated by Clément Turpin, an experienced Ligue 1 referee, assisted by Aurélien Drouet and Julien Garrigues. This meeting will be an important test for the LOSC, which wants to confirm its place among the best teams in France and continue its progress in the Champions League.
