The Ligue de football professionnelle (LFP) ended the suspense surrounding the second goal of the Olympique de Marseille during its 4-1 victory against Brest last Sunday at the Vélodrome. The competent commission of the LFP made official its decision this Tuesday, according to which the goal will not be credited to Mason Greenwood. Originally attributed to English, the goal at the 37th minute was analyzed and the LFP considered that the deviation of Brendan Chardonnet, defender of the Brestois Stadium, had been decisive in the trajectory of the ball that deceived goaltender Gregory Coudert. Thus, the goal is now recorded as a goal against his camp for Chardonnet.
This decision is not in favour of Greenwood, who remains stuck at 18 goals in Ligue 1 this season. The English striker was hoping to re-join the scorers’ rankings where Ousmane Dembélé would lead with 21 achievements.
Furthermore, the triple of Amine Gouiri registered on the same day was validated by the LFP. OM’s striker remains stuck at 18 goals in Ligue 1 this season, still behind Ousmane Dembélé who tied with 21 achievements. The triple of Amine Gouiri has been validated.
