This Thursday, French clubs qualified for the Champions League go to Monaco for the drawing of lots of the Champions League phase. The event will determine the eight potential opponents of Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, who aspire to reach the eighth finals of the competition or, failing that, the dams. The new format of the Champions League guarantees fairness in the draw, each team being likely to meet two opponents of each pot, with a limit of two clubs per nation.
The clubs potentially opposing the French teams are numerous and varied. On the side of the teams considered as favourites, there are FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Naples, Sporting Portugal, Galatasaray and Newcastle. These clubs represent a major challenge for the French teams in the race.
On the other hand, other possible clubs, although less prestigious, are also formidable opponents. These include Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Frankfurt, Bruges, Slavia Prague, FK Bodø/Glimt, Pafos FC and Kairat Almaty. These teams could offer qualifying opportunities, but will require careful preparation and exceptional performance from French clubs.
