Leicester City has been officially relegated to the Championship since Sunday, April 20, and is about to live a turbulent mercato this summer. Several players on the current roster could leave the club, forced to reduce their payroll and review their ambitions. Some profiles could represent good recruitment opportunities for Olympique de Marseille, in search of reinforcements at lower cost. Here are four players to follow.
The midfielder Boubakary Soumarรฉ, 26 years old, could be interesting to strengthen the Marseille midfielder. Under contract with Leicester until 2026, the former LOSC player made a full season with 30 matches all competitions. He is the second player in the club to have a number of interceptions (24), behind Wout Faes and has a good speed point, among the fastest circles in England.
In central defence, Wout Faes represents another attractive profile. The Belgian international was an indisputable holder this season and proved to be strong despite the bad collective pass. Also at 26, he has a solid experience in the Premier League and could meet OM’s defensive needs, especially in the event of departures this summer.
The 20-year-old Facundo Buonanotte offensive medium showed some promise despite Leicester’s descent. His profile as a technical and creative player could be integrated into the Marseille gaming system. A new loan or transfer could be considered for this player currently loaned to Leicester by Brighton.
Finally, the 25-year-old attacker Patson Daka has had a difficult season but retains an interesting market rating. The Zambian attacker has in the past marked with Salzburg and could be revived in a less competitive context. For a club like OM, which often seeks to revitalize unsuccessful attackers, Daka can be an option to consider.
Leicester, forced to sell, could offer an ideal window for strategic recruitment without exploding the budget. OM has every interest in keeping an eye on this situation.
