Bouchouari at the ASSE: challenges injury and uncertain future

Bénjamin Bouchouari, who arrived at ASSE in the summer of 2022, experienced contrasting seasons within the club. Initially unknown to the general public, this Moroccan field environment quickly impressed despite the sports difficulties of the team, which relegated to Ligue 2. He quickly joined the team, forming an effective duo with Jean-Philippe Krasso. His first season in the Loire was marked by a selection with the Moroccan under-23 team, winning the CAN U23 in July. However, the 2023-2024 season saw a decrease in his playing time under the new coach, Olivier Dall’Oglio, who seemed to expect more from him in defensive terms.

Despite individual performances above average in Ligue 2, Bouchouari had difficulty confirming the expectations placed in him. Nevertheless, he remained on the team regularly for a significant period, until a back injury occurred a few days from the derby. This injury compromised his end of season and, more recently, he was again affected during the summer preparation. This situation has had a negative impact on its initial prospects, as it has not received concrete offers and seems to appreciate its status at ASSE.

Although some may have expected a transfer, Bénjamin Bouchouari should stay at ASSE if the club wishes. He is currently recovering from a persistent back injury, which has already removed him from the Coupe de France terrain. His attachment to the club and the lack of interest of other teams suggest continuity in his career within the Greens, despite the challenges faced this season. He will have to overcome this injury to regain his place and confirm his potential in League 2.
