Incidents to Saint-Étienne: Luis Enrique condemns the referee’s aggression and reassures Pacho

Saint-Étienne was the scene of a shorter derby this Sunday, marked by a serious incident: a projectile launched on the assistant referee. The stop of the meeting, which lasted more than 30 minutes, highlighted a worrying situation for France’s Foot.

In response to this event, Luis Enrique, coach of the ASSE, spoke at a press conference before the late match against Nantes. He first stated that he was not informed of the incident, relayed by his team. He then clearly condemned the aggression and its perpetrator, stressing that this act does not represent the majority of supporters. He hoped that sanctions would be imposed on the perpetrator.

Along with this case, Luis Enrique provided good news about Willian Pacho’s situation. The absence of Ecuadorian defender from Le Havre, originally due to illness, now seems to be behind him. He was approached to join the PSG group this Tuesday, before the trip to Nantes for the late match of Ligue 1.

The ASSE coach expressed his optimism about the recovery of Pacho, stressing the importance of motivating the entire group, especially the less used players. This good news is particularly important for Luis Enrique, as Pacho has been the most used player since the start of the season.
