Sara Däbritz: a sublime goal but the uncertain future

The current season is difficult for Sara Däbritz who struggles to find play time. Coach Joe Montemurro doesn’t consider her his first choice. On Wednesday night, during a match in Nantes, she was titularized alongside many young players. The Australian OL technician had decided to rest his frames between the two Champions League semifinals against Arsenal. This opportunity allowed the German midfielder to shine with a sublime goal in the middle of the sky from the edge of the surface (39th). It thus paved the way for the Fenottes and allowed OL to win (0-2) and continue their series of invincibility in the First League. Despite its good statistics this season in the championship (6 goals and 2 assists), Sara Däbritz suffers from competition in her position. Damaris Egurrola, Dzsenifer Marozsan and Lindsey Horan form a trio that is hard to push. According to German media reports Kicker, the former PSG player is not expected to continue the adventure in Lyon next season. She had signed a three-year lease on her arrival in 2022, which is expected to go no further than its end this summer. At the moment, there is no sign of any extension on the side of the club or player. However, it is unlikely that it will return to the Bundesliga where it evolved between 2013 and 2019 in Fribourg and then in Bayern Munich. Germany would not be its preferred destination on departure.
