Olympique Lyonnais won a convincing victory against Stade Rennais on Saturday night, with a final score of 4-1 in favour of the Lyonnais. The match started on the wheel caps for OL, with a goal scored by Malick Fofana in the 8th minute on a flash counterattack. The Belgian winger got rid of the Rennes marking with a stroke of kidney before catapulting his strike in the opposite skylight of Brice Samba (1-0). The Lyons continued their domination with new opportunities that gave the outdated Bretons cold sweats. At the 25th minute, Corentin Tolisso scored by directly taking a pass at the entrance to the surface (2-0). Back after its stretcher release in Saint-รtienne, the midfielder was valuable in the game.
However, the Lyons played with fire as soon as the changing rooms returned. An inexplicable mistake by Thiago Almada allowed Rennes to narrow the gap to the 50th minute thanks to a strike by Mohamed Meรฏtรฉ that deceived Lucas Perri (3-1). The goals of Alexandre Lacazette and Malick Fofana were rejected for logical off-games. But OL finally dug the gap thanks to a goal by Georges Mikautadze in the 77th minute, combining with Rayan Cherki before scoring (4-1).
Thanks to this victory, OL is taking care of their goal-awareness and regaining 5th place, at a point in the 2nd and 3rd, Monaco and Marseilles. Next Sunday, the Lyons will face Lens to keep the European dream active.
Warnings: Goals: Fofana (8’), Tolisso (25’), Lacazette (39’) and Mikautadze (77’) for Lyon. Meite (50’) for Rennes.
