Corentin Tolisso Prepares the Derby Saint-Étienne – Lyon

Lyon, 30th Ligue Day 1 – 20/04/2025

Corentin Tolisso, midfielder of Olympique Lyonnais (OL), gave an interview to the official Ligue 1 media in order to prepare the crucial match against AS Saint-Étienne, a derby of particular importance. The game will take place at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium (20:45) and is the 30th day of Ligue 1.

Special Preparation for Derby

Tolisso stressed that the preparation for a derby is different. Workouts are more intense, with an increased concentration on physical intensity. He also highlighted the importance of motivation and willingness not to disappoint fans, noting that these are the two most important games of the season. In particular, OL noted that the changing room was different during these meetings, with the use of flags and posters.

OL U16 in Montaigu Tournament

In parallel, OL’s U16 team is involved in the Montaigu tournament. After a draw against Strasbourg, the young Lyonnais won two wins, against Rennes and the Vendée selection. The midfielder, Amaury Barlet, has been particularly successful in this tournament. The Rhodanian formation, composed of several U15s, has to deal with absences, notably those of Adil Hamdani and Kenan Doganay, who are engaged with the French team. Adam Alioui fought CAN U17 with Morocco, while others were injured.

Ligue 1 Elite Race

In Ligue 1, the race for European places is tight. OL, currently fourth, can claim the Champions League next season. Despite a setback in Strasbourg, Paulo Fonseca and his men remain in a good dynamic. Marseille won a major victory against Montpellier, while Monaco was held in check by Strasbourg. The safety of the podium is threatened.

Complex Calendar for OL

OL’s calendar is particularly demanding. The team will first have to go to the Forez for a 126th derby, which will be tricky, given the sporting stakes for the Stéphanois. Rennes reception on 26 April will also be complex, with attacker Arnaud Kalimuendo as a target to watch. The trip to the Principality to face AS Monaco is a final test before the last game of the season at Parc OL against Angers. OL will be the only club to receive three times in the last four days, while the Dogues will face three affordable opponents.
