Reorganization of the Olympian workforce and targeted reinforcements for next season

L’Olympique de Marseille is putting in place a strategy to rebuild its workforce for the 2025-2026 season. A major internal decision was taken, involving the creation of a “loft” for players deemed not essential to the project. Several players, including Ruben Blanco, Bamo Mรฉรฏtรฉ and Azzedine Ouahi, were informed individually and invited to join Team Pro 2, supervised by Romain Ferrier. This measure is intended to facilitate their departure and reduce the number of new recruits, as part of a lively summer mercato. The goal is to have a smaller workforce, involved and adapted to the tactical requirements of coach Roberto De Zerbi.

The Marseille club also focuses on strengthening its field environment. Valentin Rongier’s future is uncertain, which could prompt OM to place him on the transfer market and seek a replacement. Ezequiel Fernaandez, 22-year-old Argentinean, is a reactivated track, with the Real Sociedad also interested. OM will have to be convincing in sport and financial terms to seize this player, who could meet De Zerbi’s tactical needs.

Finally, OM continues its defensive reinforcement work, particularly on the left side. After the arrivals of CJ Egan-Riley and Facundo Medina, the name Romain Perraud, side of the Seville Betis, resurfaces. OM could offer an exchange including Pau Lopez, who left the club for Toluca. The case is to follow, with a potential accelerator if an English club makes a concrete offer for Quentin Merlin, another defensive player on the start.
