Marseille Olympic Games: consolidation and targeted recruitment for next season

The Olympique de Marseille, in full preparation for the 2025-2026 season, is currently focusing on consolidating its existing workforce before considering further reinforcements. This is confirmed by Roberto De Zerbi, the Marseille coach, in a recent interview with The Team. He stressed the crucial importance of keeping key players on the team, such as Hรถjbjerg, Adrien Rabiot, Greenwood, Balerdi and Rowe, even those who had opportunities to leave. De Zerbi highlights the commitment of these players who have resisted the demands of other clubs, demonstrating their commitment to the Marseille project.

The coach is particularly satisfied with the reaction of his players to the interest of competing clubs for some of them. He emphasizes the will of his men to remain loyal to OM, despite the contacts and proposals made to them. De Zerbi also salutes the work of his sports director, CJ Egan-Riley and Angel Gomes, two free arrivals which he describes as Benatia’s “masters of work”. The recruitment of Medina, a defender deemed ideal for the club, is also considered an important strategic reinforcement.

With a solid base and targeted recruits, OM lays the foundation for its upcoming season. However, De Zerbi warns that the work is not finished and that further manoeuvres may take place in August. He also expressed his regret at the departure of Valentin Rongier, stressing a desire for coherence and continuity in the club’s sports project. Thus, the Marseille Mercato is characterized by a strategy of consolidation before possibly strengthening the team for next season.
