The French Football Federation (FFF) is currently in a difficult position to organise its major events, notably the final of the Coupe de France, due to the lack of agreement between it and GL Events. The latter is in exclusive negotiations with the state for the concession of the Stade de France, scheduled for August 2025, which prevents any possibility of using the compound for the matches of the team of France and the Coupe de France. Faced with this impasse, the FFF was forced to seek alternatives to host the competitions, while allowing itself the time to determine the place of the finale of the Coupe de France in 2026.
Three stadiums have already officially submitted their candidacy for the finale of the Coupe de France: the Decathlon Arena in Lille, the Groupama Stadium in Lyon and, surprisingly, the Stade de France itself. The Federation reserves the right to take a decision at a future Executive Committee, carefully examining the proposals of each forum. It should be noted that the Lille stadium, already host of the outcome of the 2024 edition, has some experience in organizing such events, although this previous edition was unfortunately marked by incidents that caused many injuries.
The uncertainty surrounding the award of the finale of the Coupe de France in 2026 highlights the complications associated with managing the concession of the Stade de France and the challenges that the FFF must face to ensure the continuity of its competitions. The final choice of the stadium will therefore be crucial, taking into account both the experience of the enclosure, its ability to guarantee the safety of the spectators and the compatibility with the objectives of the Federation.
