ASSE Mercato Defeat and Young Talents in Preparation

The past week has been marked by many important changes and events for ASSE. In the middle of a mercato period and as the championship took over in Laval, the club experienced several movements of players. Lamine Fomba, an experienced midfielder, officially left the club to join the Servette de Genรจve in the first Swiss division, after two and a half seasons spent in the Forez. During his time at ASSE, he had established himself as a valuable player during the Ligue 1 promotion, and his departure was greeted by the club, which wished him good luck for the rest of his career. This transfer is seen as an opportunity for Fomba to regain a central role and regular playing time.

The ASSE’s summer preparations were tainted by a notable counterperformance in the match against Paris FC in Thonon, where the Greens suffered a defeat (0-3). This defeat, which was particularly worrying because it came to fruition with the starting composition considered the best of the moment, has aroused strong criticism from coach Horneland, who deplored a lack of intensity, deficiencies in the construction of the game and a disappointing general attitude. Passionate exchanges took place in the locker room, and Horneland expressed concern about a decline in mindset compared to previous games, which could impact the preparation for the recovery against Laval.

In parallel to these movements, ASSE saw the arrival of young talents like Joshua Duffus, who made his first game in the green colours, entering the game during the defeat against Paris FC. The young attacker distinguished himself by his energy, mobility and involvement in the cleaning, offering a breath of oxygen to attack. However, the transfer of Yvann Maco, right side, to the Servette de Genรจve, was cancelled following a failure of his medical examination, which may require a revision of the club’s mercato plans. Finally, the preparatory course in Aix-les-Bains was completed earlier than planned because of a lawn deemed insufficient, although the collaboration between the city and the club remains positive, with a willingness to continue the cooperation in the future.
