The ASSE reserve team resumed training this week at the Etrat, marking a return to normal after a period of change. Under the leadership of Sylvain Gibert, now a senior coach after a successful acting coach, the group has a significantly redesigned composition. Departures and arrivals of players with the professional team have led to a very different staff than that of the previous season. The team relies on a mix of young talent and tested players, who should quickly integrate into the collective.
A notable return was Mathis Mezaber, a former ASSE player and winner of the 2019 Gambardella Cup. Despite his role as the holder of this victory, he had not been retained by the club. After a difficult period in Andrézieux-Bouthéon, marked by a rupture of the cross ligaments, he had several experiences in other clubs, including Guinigaum, Feurs and Espaly. His 2024/2025 season was marked by a decisive pass against Paris Saint-Germain in the Coupe de France.
Back to the ASSE, Mezaber aims to stay fit while waiting for new opportunities. His return is welcome, and he hopes to find a new and exciting challenge. The team, under the leadership of Sylvain Gibert, Romain Hamouma and Jules Fauvey, continues its preparation work with the objective of progress and full integration into the ASSE structure.
