Crystal Palace facing an imminent change of owner

Crystal Palace, an English club currently occupying 12th place in the Premier League, is subject to intense speculation about its future owner. The Eagle Football group, led by John Textor, is one of the main shareholders, but the latter had recently expressed its intention to divest part of its shares in order to meet the requirements of the National Board of Club Control and Management (DNCG). This seemed to indicate a willingness to stabilize the finances of the London club.

However, according to reports from the British newspaper The Sun, the situation took an unexpected turn. It seems that a collaboration between John Textor and Woody Johnson, the billionaire owner of the New York Jets, is now under discussion. Johnson’s ambition was to take control of Crystal Palace with the Lyon leader, which would require convincing other shareholders, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, and integrating the group into the New York Stock Exchange to secure substantial financial support.

The operation raises questions about its impact on the financial situation of Olympique Lyonnais, especially since Woody Johnson has already expressed an interest in the acquisition of other English clubs, notably Chelsea, and John Textor has been associated with possible acquisitions of interests in Everton. These developments highlight the continuing instability of the proprietary landscape in English football and raise questions about the motivations and consequences of these financial movements.
