The Olympique de Marseille is actively engaged in strengthening its right corridor during this summer mercato. The club continues discussions with the Juventus for the acquisition of Timothy Weah, a young winger capable of also evolving as a right piston. An alternative is envisaged in the person of Sacha Boey, currently in Bayern Munich, with whom Marseille leaders keep contact. Negotiations with the Juventus focus on an allowance of 20 to 22 million euros, compared with 15 million euros initially mentioned, while Weah has already given his agreement to the Provençal club for a five-season contract. The arrival of Weah would be a priority for coach Roberto De Zerbi, who wants to reinforce the athletic intensity and versatility of his right flank.
At the same time, OM is looking at the possibility of selling 26-year-old Canadian central defender Derek Cornelius, who is on the list of several European clubs, including Bologna. Cornelius, who arrived in 2024, did not manage to win regularly in the team and the club would be willing to consider interesting offers. This transfer would allow OM to reinvest in a profile more suited to De Zerbi’s system. Moreover, the Igor Paixão case seems to be at a standstill, as the Feyenooord Rotterdam rejected the latest offer from Marseille. The Dutch club remains firm on its financial requirements.
Faced with these developments, OM must now explore other offensive avenues to complement its workforce. Luis Henrique’s departure made the club particularly active on the market. Leeds United, another club interested in Peaceão, would now prefer Manor Solomon, an Israeli international, rather than the Brazilian. These changes confirm an evolution in OM’s mercato strategy, which will have to be responsive to fill the gaps left by departures and meet the expectations of its new coach.
