France women in quarter-final against Germany a major challenge

The French women’s football team qualified for the quarter finals of the Euro in Switzerland, marking the beginning of the final stages of the competition. The team consists of five OL players: Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Kadidiatou Diani, Amel Majri, Selma Bacha and Alice Sombath. Alice Sombath, particularly impressive at just 21 years old, has already been titularized three times and has demonstrated strong defensive performance. Laurent Bonadei’s team made a perfect course in the band phase, winning three games against England (2-1), Wales (4-1) and the Netherlands (5-2), which suggests good potential for the playoffs.

In the quarterfinals, France will face Germany on Saturday night at 9 p.m., in a crucial match to reach the last square. Germany had a more difficult start to the tournament, with two wins against Poland (2-0) and Denmark (2-1), but also a significant defeat against Sweden (4-1). Despite this, Germany has a rich European history, aiming for its 9th European title in Switzerland. France has never won this championship.

Furthermore, Julle Brand, OL Lyonnaise’s new rookie, shone throughout the competition, contributing with two goals and two assists in three games. The winner of this quarter final will meet Spain, Switzerland’s winner (2-0), in the semifinal on July 23. Spain is another serious competitor for the title, adding to the attractiveness of this final phase of the Euro.
