The AS Saint-Étienne recently suffered a mourning, with the death of Richard Tylinski at the age of 87. An iconic figure of the club, Tylinski was a major player in his first successes, joining the team in 1953 at only 15 years old. He remained 312 matches, becoming a pillar of the defence and participating in the construction of the legend of Stéphanois, notably with the first victory in the French championship in 1957 and the first Coupe de France in 1962. Selected as a team from France on several occasions, he was known for his determination, sacrifice and elegance. Asse expressed its condolences to his family, recalling also the memory of his brother Michel, also passed through the club.
The ASSE team won a convincing 4-0 win over Rodez on the second day of Ligue 2, ahead of nearly 30,000 fans in Geoffroy-Guichard. The players stressed the importance of this first home game to put the clock back on schedule after the previous game, and expressed their gratitude for the fans’ support. The atmosphere in the stadium was exceptional, and the players enjoyed the energy and enthusiasm of the fans.
Several players scored this game, including Joshua Duffus, who scored his first goal in Ligue 2 with a call in the back of the defense. He was very well received by his teammates and happy to have been able to score in front of the Stéphanois audience. Competition within the team is seen as positive, contributing to the strength of the group. The clear objective of ASSE is to go back to first division, and the team is determined to give the maximum to achieve this objective.
