Defender Saidou Sow seriously hurts his left ankle
FC Nantes announced this Tuesday a sad news for its player loaned by RC Strasbourg-Alsace, Saidou Sow. The 22-year-old defender injured himself at the left knee’s anterior cross ligament during a training last week. This serious injury will end his 2024-25 season.
Originally from Saint-Étienne, Saidou Sow began his career in the Forez in 2016. Nicknamed “Little Thiago Silva” in his hometown, he quickly won in the U15 before joining the U17N and U19 teams under the direction of Jean-Luc Dogon.
In 2020, Sow made his big jump into the professional world under coach Christophe Puel. Never passed through the reserve, he was aligned in central defence and signed his first contract with Saint-Étienne on September 30 of the same year.
After being relegated to Ligue 2 with Saint-Étienne, Sow joined Strasbourg before being loaned to FC Nantes last January. despite his injury, he remains optimistic about his future with the club. “Saint-Étienne will always stay in my heart. It’s a team that I will always support,” Sow told us last October.
Unfortunately, Saidou Sow’s season is now over. FC Nantes will have to do without its defender until the end of the current season, while the fight for the top places in the standings is in full swing.
